Speech and Drama

All pupils from Year 4 upwards can take Speech and Drama lessons. These additional drama sessions take place during the school day on a rotational basis. Where possible, older children are offered lessons outside of academic lessons. In their weekly lessons, pupils are prepared individually and in pairs for external examinations accredited by LAMDA (The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) in a range of disciplines including Acting, Verse and Prose, Devising and Speaking in Public.

In the Autumn Term, older pupils enter the local competitive arts’ festival held at the Royal Wootton Bassett Academy.  The festival is the ideal opportunity for pupils to showcase their skills and watch and learn from other performances. Approximately 30 pupils from Years 5 to 8 take part annually and receive a great number of Distinction and Honours certificates.  In the Summer Term, the school hosts a LAMDA examination session.  Marks are consistently high, with recent results showing over 80% of pupils consistently score marks of Distinction.
