Reception

In Reception, we aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for your child based on the recommendations of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The curriculum supports your child in seven key areas of their development:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

The children follow a synthetic phonic scheme and Literacy activities lay the foundations for listening, talking, reading and writing.  Mathematical activities include calculating; identifying patterns and sequences; shape; sorting; information handling and problem solving.  The majority of the Reception curriculum is facilitated through play with a variety of resources. French is also introduced in Reception and continues throughout the School.
