Earlier this month, Old Beaudesertian Daphne Schrager (2005-2012) set a new World Record in the C2 individual pursuit at the UCI World Championships in Glasgow.
During the qualifying rounds of the C2 individual pursuit, Daphne posted an incredible time of 3:51.721, a new World Record.
Daphne started her sporting journey as a sprinter, coming fifth at the Commonwealth Games in 2018 in the T35 100m final. More recently, she has moved over to cycling after applying for a place in the foundation programme with British Cycling.
In 2022, Daphne won a bronze medal at the European Championships, national titles in the C1-3 time trial and C1-3 individual pursuit, and won the world title in the C3 individual pursuit at the Para-cycling Track World Championships in Paris.
While she had to miss the finals of the Championships in Glasgow this month, she has her sights set on competing in the Paralympics in Paris next year.
We are wishing her the best of luck!
