National Athletics Success
Our Beaudesert Park athletes had a superb day at the National Prep Schools Athletics Championships at Nuneaton in July. In what was an extremely high-quality event, the children recorded plenty of personal bests – a testament to the talent and efforts of our brilliant athletes, and the fantastic coaching of Old Beaudesertian and Olympic marathon runner, Dan Robinson.
In the shot put, Iris in Year 7 threw consistently to gain a top 10 finish. Freddie and Lollie in Year 7 competed in the javelin, both acquitting themselves admirably. Lollie produced two exceptional throws in the second and thirds rounds and achieved a fantastic bronze medal.
On the track, Chloe in Year 6 and Sholto in Year 7 competed in the 200m. Chloe held on to the lead and comfortably won her heat, going on to take 5th place under tough competition, while Sholto battled right to the line in his final to win a well-deserved silver. To have two children from Beaudesert in their respective finals, with such strong competition, was an accomplishment in itself.
Our Year 6 girls’ relay team ran excellently, mastering their change overs, and finished a hugely creditable 6th place.
We are proud of the whole team for their effort and enthusiasm in representing Beaudesert at such a prestigious national event. We cannot wait for next year!
