Choosing a school is tricky for every family. With so many options to choose from it is difficult to know where to start, but here are just ten reasons to add Beaudesert Park to your shortlist.
Beaudesert Park School is nestled high in the rolling hills of the Cotswolds. To one side sits Minchinhampton Common, a National Trust protected common, home to free-roaming cows and ponies in the summer. To the other side, big sky views look out over local Cotswold town Nailsworth. With 30 acres of space including playing fields, a lake, an astro, tennis courts, tumbling terraces and abundant woodland, you could not get more 'country' than this.
Our Pre-Prep department provides an aspirational academic springboard for growing minds. Our youngest Beaudesertians benefit from superb teachers, a broad and balanced curriculum, and abundant outdoor learning, to instill them with confidence, knowledge and kindness in their foremost years.
Our Year 8 children leave laden down with scholarships and awards in every conceivable area to a selection of some of the best senior schools in the UK. Independent of any senior school, our Year 8 children move on to over 20 different schools each year including Eton, Cheltenham College, Radley College, Marlborough College, and St Edward's, Oxford, with over a third receiving prestigious scholarships and awards.
There are endless opportunities for children to shine, both within the classroom and beyond, allowing all children to find their voice. We keep all doors open and children are encouraged to embrace every opportunity, and learn how to be good learners.
Children from Nursery to Year 2 spend a morning in our Forest School, nestled deep in our wooded grounds. From marshmallow toasting to bird watching and map making, Forest School sessions boost children's confidence and self-esteem, while allowing them to enjoy an outdoor education within a safe and stimulating environment. Forest School takes place no matter the weather, so wellies are always at the ready.
From Year 3, children at Beaudesert can gain their tree-climbing license! After completing a series of safety talks with qualified Forest School leaders, they have the freedom to climb an abundance of trees on school site, which are rigorously risk-assessed and maintained by our grounds staff. It is not uncommon to walk around Beaudesert during break or lunchtime and see a Beaudesertian or two calling to each other through the branches.
Children can weekly or flexi-board at Beaudesert Park from Year 4. Often a great opportunity to participate in additional activities, it is a great way for children to spend more time with their friends, gain vital boarding experience for their transition to senior school and acquire invaluable confidence and independence.
Beaudesert has a reputation for providing delicious school food, including five-star lunches, breakfasts and suppers for boarding children. Professionally trained chefs cook our food on site and our menus feature fresh, seasonal ingredients. Healthy snacks are provided for the children at key times in the day and our match teas are considered some of the best in the county.
Our reliable minibus service can accommodate families living across Gloucestershire and Wiltshire including North Cerney, South Cerney, Ampney Crucis, Kemble, Painswick, Cirencester, Tetbury, Malmesbury, Grittleton, Sherston, Shipton Moyne, Great Somerford and villages in between.
Classrooms are supervised from 8am across the School. In the Pre-Prep, late stay is available most evenings until 5.30pm free of charge, and Prep School children can can stay at School until 5.30pm. Our flexi-boarding approach means children often board for one or two nights a week, and we can often accommodate for last minute additions.
Children right the way through the School have access to our state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre, including theatre, sound-proofed teaching pods and a recording studio. Our spacious Art Studio and Design Technology Studio ignite creative passions for many who go on to pursue senior school scholarships in the arts. Creativity is certainly at the heart of life for all Beaudesertians.
