Last month, Old Beaudesertian John May (1971-1977) was formally invested as a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) by HRH The Prince of Wales on behalf of His Majesty The King, in recognition of his personal service to the Crown. The Royal Victorian Order is a mark of distinction granted by the Sovereign to individuals who have rendered outstanding service to the Monarchy. John received the honour at an investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle, acknowledging his “decades of dedicated work across national and international youth organisations, as well as his contributions to civic life in the United Kingdom.”
This year, John is also serving as High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, appointed by His Majesty The King to this historic and voluntary role. As High Sheriff, John supports the judiciary, police, emergency services, and voluntary sector across the county, with a particular focus on early intervention and youth crime prevention. His theme for the year, Hearing the Young Unheard, highlights the importance of listening to young people whose voices often go unnoticed in decision-making. John is convening conversations, celebrating local initiatives, and championing those working to build safer, more inclusive communities throughout Oxfordshire.
We are sending John our heartiest congratulations, and the best of luck in his role as High Sheriff.
