We would like to say a very big well done to Sahara in Year 6 and Georgia in Year 3 who have been named as national finalists in Poetry by Heart, a poetry recitation competition.
The competition is open to children across the UK aged from 7 to 18 years old. Sahara is one of ten finalists in the Celebration category and Georgia is one of ten finalists in the KS2 Classic category. They are two of just 50 children who have been invited to perform their poems in front of an audience of top British poets at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in July.
To be considered for the competition, Sahara performed a rendition of ‘Invictus’ by W.E. Henley while Georgia recited ‘What is Pink?’ by Christina Rossetti and ‘The Land Where The Taffy Birds Sing’ by Margaret McBride Hoss.
We wish them the best of luck in their performances later this year, we cannot wait to see them on the stage!
