On Wednesday 11 November at 11am, the Prep school held two minutes’ silence to commemorate Remembrance Day. Prior to the service the children watched a video made by the Year 8s explaining the history of various conflicts that have happened around the world and are still ongoing to emphasise the importance of the act of remembrance. The children stood socially distanced in the school grounds while a wreath was laid on the terraces by one of the children. The Headmaster delivered the words of the Act of remembrance before our Year 8 children read out the roll of honour of Old Beaudesertians who have lost their lives in conflict. Mrs Hannah Opstad, Head of Brass at Dean Close School, attended the service to play a beautiful rendition The Last Post. Mrs Searson closed the service with the final words “When you go home tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow, we gave our today.”
In the Pre-prep, the Year 2 children led an assembly where they shared what they had learned about Remembrance Day before laying a wreath beneath the Pre-prep Kindness Tree.
The Headmaster, Chris Searson, also represented the School at a service on Sunday at Amberley’s war memorial.
