This week, we were delighted to welcome back Lucinda and Ashok from the OSCAR Foundation. The pair spoke to the children in assembly about their exciting upcoming tour. In October 2023, the foundation plans to bring a group of children from Mumbai to visit a number of schools across the UK.

Beaudesert is nominating the OSCAR Foundation as its school charity for the next academic year, to help raise money for the trip, and for an ongoing educational programme the foundation runs in Mumbai.

Beaudesert’s connection with the OSCAR Foundation spans back to 2017 when the School started fundraising for a team of boys to visit the UK. Events included a Bollywood disco and The Big Beaudesert Dribble, where the community dribbled footballs for a total of 4,543 miles; the same distance that lies between Beaudesert Park School and the OSCAR team’s home in India.

OSCAR (The Organisation for Social Change, Awareness and Responsibility) is a not-for-profit organisation which provides football coaching and education to underprivileged boys and girls in Mumbai. OSCAR offers a unique programme that teaches sport and offers children an alternative to life on the streets.

The tours run by OSCAR give children the opportunity to experience a new culture, play sport, and learn about UK schooling. The children are also able to take advantage of the UK schools’ facilities, and learn about the value of education.

After assembly, Ashok and Lucinda played some football themed games with the Pre-prep children, and ran a ‘keepie uppie’ challenge with the Prep School to much delight.

We are looking forward to planning our fundraising efforts for the forthcoming year and learning more about how we can help the OSCAR Foundation!
