Beaudesert has a strong tradition of drama right the way through the school and emphasis is placed on everyone playing their part, from stage hands, to lighting, to set design, management and performance. After all, theatre is the greatest team sport of all!
In addition to the timetabled drama lessons the children undertake productions annually as follows:
Year 3 – annual production in the Summer term
Year 4 – a play each term (year group being split by form currently)
Year 5 – enjoy ‘Play in a Day’, which is frequently based on a production they have seen at the Royal Shakespeare Company in the Spring term
Year 6 – annual production in the Summer term
Year 7 – A performance arts project at the end of the Spring term
Year 8 – annual production at the end of the Autumn term, which is quite often a musical.
Prep school children are able to undertake L.A.M.D.A. tuition during the school day where they work towards their end of year L.A.M.D.A. examination, for solo, duo or group work as well as the children performing at various literary festivals.
