Each year pupils in Years 6, 7 and 8 are invited to take part in a variety of maths competitions and challenges that take place both at Beaudesert and at other schools. They include
The Primary Maths Challenge (PMC) taken by over 100,000 Year 6 pupils all over the country and run by the Mathematical Association
The Junior and Intermediate Maths Challenges run by UKMT (the United Kingdom Maths Trust)
Duncan Buchanan’s Team Challenges for pupils in Years 5 and 6
In 2013-2014 we had particular success with the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge, taken nationally by over 290,000 candidates. Our pupils achieved four gold awards, placing them in the top 5%, six silver awards and 2 bronze awards. Magnus Lawrence scored the highest mark ever received by a Beaudesert pupil and went on to take part in the UKMT Maths Olympiad.
Over the past few years the quality of on-line maths has improved no end. The list below only scratches the surface of what is out there!
